- Take a measure of whole barley, and soak in plain water 12-18 hours.
- Rinse
- *optional: use a blender to break them up a bit.
- Cook with a splash of milk, and water. (i use milk to improve its eye appeal, and give a little creaminess- barley goes quite grey looking when cooked in plain water)
- Serve it however you like it but my suggestions are
- butter and honey
- butter and brown sugar
- with grilled fresh peaches
- milk
- nuts/ dried fruits
Too easy.....and cheap! (i estimate it at $3 per batch, including the butter and honey, and I make double lot, so one batch will do two breakfasts) that is 21c/serve (14 serves) Not bad!!
The kids love this one!!
